A 24-year-old North Battleford man and an 18-year-old Saskatoon woman face charges after being arrested by Saskatoon Police, with the help of a Canine Unit, for refusing to stop for police.
The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday when police saw a stolen 2013 Infiniti JX-35 in the 500 block of Avenue X South. The driver fled at a high rate of speed, evading the police traffic stop. Shortly thereafter, officers found the vehicle abandoned in the 200 block of J-J Thiessen Crescent. The man and women were found hiding in a nearby camper van by a police service dog and apprehended. Medaviw Health Services attended to a dog bite minor injury on the man before both suspects were sent to detention. The man is charged with possession of stolen property over five thousand dollars, evading police and dangerous driving. The women is charged with obstruction and breach of release. A second woman who fled in a cab was located and arrested…but eventually released without charges.
