A 44 year old woman has died while in custody at the Kamsack RCMP Detachment. The woman was arrested around 3:20 Saturday afternoon without incident at a residence on the Cote First Nation in relation to what police call an ongoing investigation.
Sunday morning around 9:30, an ambulance was called as the woman required medical attention. The ambulance arrived within 20 minutes and took the woman to Kamsack Hospital.
She died there around 11:00 that morning.
RCMP have asked the Estevan Police Service to conduct an investigation into the death. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.
The Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service is involved in the investigation and the Saskatchewan RCMP have asked the Ministry of Justice to appoint an independent observer.
