Over the weekend the Saskatchewan Health Authority informed Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools of positive COVID-19 cases in individuals at St. Augustine School and Holy Cross High School. Affected classrooms and cohorts will switch to online instruction starting Monday.
More and more schools are seeing some if not all classes being done remotely because of the virus.
It has some wondering if there should be an extended Christmas break, but provincial chief medical health officer Dr. Saqib Shahab says at this time, the answer would be no.
He says despite the challenges the divisions are adapting. Shahab says most schools have only a single case and in many cases, acquisition is not in the school but in the community.
He is praising school divisions for the way K-12 education has gone as the first half of the academic year winds down.
Dr. Shahab says despite the challenges, they have done a good job of keeping COVID-19 out of the classroom setting.
