A 37-year-old man has died after a snowmobile he was riding on went through a section of thin ice on Lac La Ronge back on Saturday night.

Stanley Mission R-C-M-P say their initial investigation found the man was one of three friends who tried to cross the lake to reach a cabin. The other two friends were able to get out of the water and reach the cabin with minor injuries. On Sunday morning, local residents found the missing man’s body deceased on the shore. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service has ordered an autopsy.
