Saskatoon Public Schools and the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) have collaboratively decided to move Lester B. Pearson School to Level 4 of the provincial Safe Schools Plan.
This means all classes will move to online learning effective Monday, December 14, through Friday, December 18, and there will be no in-class instruction.
On Friday, the SHA declared an outbreak at the school. Several positive cases of COVID-19 have been identified at the school in recent days, which has resulted in the temporary closure of a number of classrooms as close contacts were directed to self-isolate. These disruptions have made it difficult for staff to deliver instruction for all students.
The school is expected to return to in-class instruction on Monday, January 4, following the holiday break.
Since the start of the school year, Saskatoon Public Schools has had 135 positive cases at 42 locations in the division 41 schools and the board office. One other school, Centennial Collegiate, is currently operating at Level 4 with all learning taking place online.
