The Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call around three o’clock Sunday afternoon, about black smoke coming from a building on Peters Avenue in the North Corman Industrial Park.
Arriving firefighters entered the building to find the source of the fire but pulled back when they saw acetylene and oxygen tanks. Coming at it from a different angle, crews were able to get water onto the fire.
Initially, 2 engines, a brush truck, a tanker and a rescue truck were sent out but an additional 2 engines, and a tanker from Warman Fire Department were brought in to provide relief and additional water supply. Fire crews managed to connect a winch to a semi and pull it out of the building, while suppression flare-ups on a semi-trailer.
The fire was under control and extinguished with the last truck leaving the scene just before six o’clock
There will be no damage estimate or cause given as the Saskatoon Fire Department does not investigate fires outside of Saskatoon.
