A second round of grants are being distributed in Saskatoon to help support charities which support with heightened vulnerability during the pandemic.
It’s an initiative of the federal government, the Saskatoon Community Foundation and Community Foundations of Canada.
The first round of $629,660 was for charities helping people deal with issues of food security, access to services and mental health needs.
The second round of an additional just over $230,000 will support 11 local charities which are in turn supporting people experiencing heightened vulnerability during the crisis, for example the Lighthouse, and Saskatoon Crisis Intervention Service.
Saskatoon Community Foundation CEO Carm Michalenko says these emergency funds combine with local efforts as we face this global crisis.
Over the past six months, the SCF has deployed $2-million in pandemic response, including government funding, community grants and charitable gifts.
