Santa may have paid his pre-Christmas visit to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital last week but that doesn’t mean the holiday entertainment has already come to an end.
President and CEO of the Children’s Hospital Foundation says they are doing an assortment of extras in the hope children in hospital will feel some of the spirit of the season.
Brynn Boback-Lane says there are special holiday themed food-tray liners with colouring and puzzles, they can decorate their own tree ornaments, and decorate gingerbread houses, all at their bedside.
Boback-Lane says there is no tree this year during COVID-19 to avoid multiplying shared touch surfaces, for instance, on the ornaments which is why the ornaments are decorated and kept in their rooms to be taken home as a keepsake.
The children have also been able to acquire sunshine bucks for things like completing a treatment or having a good attitude and then they get to spend those bucks at a specially created market so they can buy a gift for someone they love.
