Snow removal in the city of Saskatoon continues in response to the November snow storm.
General Manager for Transportation and Construction Terry Schmidt says snow removal has been completed on priority one streets, paid parking areas in Business Improvement Districts and in school zones.
Schmidt reports snow removal on priority two streets is about 50% complete, while work on residential streets began on December 2nd and is ongoing. He says currently 15 contractors and two city crews are involved in residential street work, and the estimated time for completion is the end of January. Schmidt reports crews are currently on schedule to meet that timeline. He adds these timelines could change if there are further winter storms.
Schmidt also reports that the new forecast impact from the November snow event is $14.5 million, a half a million below the original estimate of $15 million. The total incremental cost will be split between $7.5 million in 2020 and $7 million next year.
