The significant police presence in Meadow Lake on Wednesday was the result of a 911 call reporting a man and woman being held at gun point for almost two hours.
Meadow Lake and Loon Lake RCMP secured the home and surrounding area and determined the suspect believed involved had a history of violent offences.
Officers were able to discern that the situation was unfolding in a detached garage and began negotiating with the suspect. Police were able to get inside the home and removed everyone which included a man, a woman and a teenage girl. Neighbouring homes and businesses were evacuated while the ERT executed a warrant and arrested the 31 year old man in the detached garage.
A search of the property led to the seizure of three firearms and ammunition. Tyson Eldridge, 31 years old, of Meadow Lake is facing a laundry list of weapons charges and is in court Thursday.
