The Saskatoon Fire Department were called out to a house fire in Silverspring Sunday afternoon. The 911 call came from the 200 block of Rever Road at 2:14 pm. Smoke was seen coming from the home when crews arrived with smoke venting from a window and fire breaking through another. Everyone had evacuated so no one was hurt. A Fire Investigator has determined the fire started in a wall above a wood stove. Damage caused by the fire is estimated at $275,000.
The second call came in at 8:41 p.m. from the 700 block of Trent Crescent in the city’s College Park neighbourhood. The first arriving firefighters spotted smoke come from the home when they arrived. Everyone had evacuated and one person suffered burns to their hands. The Fire Investigator determined a cardboard box containing refuse was lit on fire to dispose of the contents – inside the house. And the fire got out of control before the home’s occupants could get it moved outside fast enough. The Saskatoon Fire Department says damage is pegged at $150,000 in a yet another holiday house fire.
