The cause of a house fire on Christmas night remains under investigation but a damage estimate has been arrived at by the Saskatoon Fire Department. Damage to the first home which caught fire is pegged at $200,000 while damage to a nearby home which also caught fire is estimated at $100,000
The Saskatoon Fire Department says the 911 call came in at 10:32 p.m. on December 25th from the 400 block of Avenue I South in Riversdale.
When fire crews arrived they found a house fully involved in fire spreading to another nearby home. Firefighters tackled the second house fire first by pumping water through the windows and quickly bringing it under control.
Shortly after 11 p.m. the fire in the home most significantly damaged was also brought under control. All occupants were accounted for outside the home and there were no injuries to either firefighters or civilians.
