Students head back to class today, for most schools in the province, after a break for Christmas.
Saskatchewan’s Premier doesn’t believe a directive from the government to all school divisions to switch to on-line learning would be necessary when COVID-19 numbers start to spike. Scott Moe says school divisions have been given the power to make the decision to switch to online learning, if they deem it is appropriate, and it can be done on a school-by-school basis.
The Premier says efforts by school divisions, teachers, parents and staff need to be commended. Scott Moe says that COVID-19 has been brought into the schools through community transmission as opposed to the starting point being outbreaks in the schools themselves.
“The effort that is being made in those classrooms by the students, their parents and in particular their our educators and staff at schools across the province shows its working and its working quite well.”
