The Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit was involved in assisting in the arrest of two individuals from separate investigations over the weekend.
Around 2:40 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to an alarm at a restaurant in the 100 block of 33rd Street West. They found a door had been pried open. The Air Support Unit located and directed Patrol Units to a nearby backyard where the suspect was allegedly found in possession of a cash register and two crow bars. He was arrested without further incident. The 23-year-old is charged with Break, Enter, and Theft, and Possession of B&E Instruments.
Then, around 2:00 a.m. Sunday, patrol officers attempted a traffic stop in the area of Kingsmere Boulevard and Waterbury Road but the driver refused to stop. The Air Support Unit found the vehicle and watched as the driver abandoned it in the 100 block of Brookdale Crescent and tried to flee on foot. The 37-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with Evade Police and Driving While Prohibited. He was also arrested on outstanding criminal code warrants.
