The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Monday morning that a pair of import players have opted back into their contracts for 2021.
Linebacker DeShaun Davis and offensive lineman Cameron Jefferson will be at training camp. Both had signed on with the Green and White for 2020, but opted out when the C-F-L chose not to play due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Jefferson spent most of 2019 on the Riders’ practice roster. He has a Super Bowl ring from 2016 with Denver while also seeing N-F-L time with Washington, Buffalo and Chicago. Davis was a 2019, sixth round N-F-L Draft pick by Cincinnati and has spent time with the Bengals, Jacksonville and Philadelphia. Following is the news release from the Roughriders…

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced that American linebacker Deshaun Davis and American offensive lineman Cameron Jefferson have opted back into their contracts.
Davis (6’0 – 235) was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth round, 210th overall, of the 2019 NFL draft and went on to play in four preseason games for the Bengals, recording 15 tackles, one sack and one pass deflection. He also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Philadelphia Eagles practice squads during the 2019 season.
Before joining the NFL, Davis played four collegiate seasons at Auburn University recording 266 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, eight sacks, six pass deflections and two forced fumbles over 52 games. In his final year, Davis was named first team All-SEC and was invited to play in the Reese Senior Bowl.
Jefferson (6’5-325 lbs) returns to the Green and White after spending most of the 2019 season on the Club’s practice roster. Prior to joining the Riders, the offensive lineman spent four years in the NFL with the Washington Redskins, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears and the Denver Broncos, the latter of which he won a Super Bowl with in 2016.
Jefferson played his senior year of college with the Arkansas Razorbacks and was part of an offensive line that helped two running backs rush for more than 1,000 yards. He played his three previous collegiate seasons at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he was a team captain in 2013 and received an All-Mountain West honourable mention.
