The province says that about $1.3 million is being provided to Saskatchewan groups and organizations that conduct charitable gaming fund raisers .
A grant equal to 25 per cent of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gamin is paid quarterly to groups and organizations that conduct these events from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority.
Minister responsible for SLGA Jim Reiter says, “The charitable gaming grant program provides extra dollars that help these groups deliver their services in a variety of important sectors including public service, emergency services, health care and recreation.”
Among the grants provided by Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority during the past six months: North Battleford and surrounding area received $141,175; Humboldt and surrounding area: $57,629; Yorkton and surrounding area: $56,187; Estevan/Weyburn and surrounding area: $31,377; and Moose Jaw and surrounding area: $24,846.
