The Lung Association, Saskatchewan is happy to see that the provincial government is including radon mitigation under the New Home Renovation Tax Credit. The Association says that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer. It is a gas that is formed by the breakdown of uranium found naturally in soil and rock. Saskatchewan is a hot spot for it.

The only way to test for radon in your home is through a test kit. The Association says that a certified radon reduction professional can mitigate your home to bring down radon levels if they are high.

Under the tax credit, home owners can claim a 10.5 per cent credit on up to $20 thousand of eligible home renovation expenses.
