As expected, it was quite the busy night for RCMP who responded and continue to respond to numerous calls across Saskatchewan. Corporal Rob King says just under 200 vehicle collisions were reported to them during the storm in parts of Saskatchewan.
There were 173 reports of vehicles being abandoned where it slid in a ditch or the vehicle was on a road that had become impassible. King says that it’s probably a very conservative number for vehicles hitting the ditch and thinks its at least double that.
Corporal King says work is being done today to get vehicles off roads and out of the ditches due to tow truck operators not working last night because it was just too dangerous.
He recommends that people avoid travel as much as possible Thursday to allow time for affected entities and people to recover from the storm. (CKRM)
