The Saskatchewan Indigenous Cultural Centre is getting 3-million dollars from the Federal Government to deliver the Aboriginal Languages Initiative for First Nations communities across Saskatchewan.
The centre near Saskatoon has funded 45 community based projects including language immersion camps, train-the-trainer and mentor-apprenticeship programs.
The S-I-C-C has also produced online material and children’s books.
This is part of the 4.7 million dollars in funding announced today for 59-projects to support Indigenous languages across the province.
