The Guns and Gangs Unit of the Saskatoon Police Service arrested five people on a variety of charges following completion of a firearms investigation on Tuesday morning.
With reports of a home in the 1700 block of 2nd Avenue North being a location where drugs were sold from and that the residents might be in possession of a firearm, officers conducted a traffic stop on a Buick Regal at Assiniboine Drive and Warman Road at about 7:45 a.m. January 19. One of the vehicle’s occupants was arrested as someone in regard to the investigation.
He was allegedly found with numerous cell phones, a meth pipe and various indentity documents some of which were reportedly stolen. Inside the car, police seized a taser, a knife, a machete, a meat cleaver and open alcohol.
The remaining car occupants were arrested with one male found to reportedly found with fentanyl and another was alleged to be in possession of over one thousand dollars of Canadian currency.
Then, at about 11:30 a.m., a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 1700 block of 2nd Avenue North where four people were arrested. A rifle and ammunition were located, along with over 35 cannabis plants. Three of the four people were later released without charges. However, a 24-year-old woman and four men, aged 44, 48, 54 and 31, have been charged with multiple firearms, weapons, breach of release, ammunition, stolen property and drug charges.
