Advance planning can help keep you, your family, and your animals safe in an emergency.
That from the Program Director of the Saskatchewan SPCA which is hosting a webinar series on the topic.
Sandra Anderson gives examples that range from wildfires, tornadoes, and trail derailments to vehicle accidents.
The webinars offer insights for pet owners and anyone who works with animals, including livestock producers, municipal bylaw officers, animal shelter staff, and animal rescues.
One webinar features a Registered Veterinary Technician who will share lessons learned about animal care during wildfire emergencies in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Another features a rancher who will talk about his experiences during the 2017 fire near Burstall in which a volunteer firefighter perished and several hundred head of cattle died.
Anderson says the daily sessions February 2nd through 4th are about an hour long, and can be registered for separately.
The webinar series is presented by the Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association, SaskPork, the Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s association, Saskatchewan Poultry Council and the Saskatchewan SPCA.
