Media sources are saying governor general Julie Payette is resigning ahead of an independent review that looks into allegations of a toxic workplace at Rideau Hall.
This past summer, the Privy Council Office launched the review in response to claims Payette bullied her staff.
At the time on Twitter, Payette stated that she takes workplace harassment issues very seriously and she is committed to ensuring that every employee at Rideau Hall enjoys a secure and health work environment.
Payette was installed as Governor General in October of 2017.
Prior to that she had been an astronaut, an engineer, scientific broadcaster and a corporate director.
Payette flew two missions in space.
