The actions of a group that held a protest in front of Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Saqib Shahab’s home are being called sickening and wrong by Premier Scott Moe.
In a written statement the Premier referred to the protestors as a “group of idiots who took their misguided protest to Dr. Shahab’s family home in Regina”. Moe says the people who did this should be ashamed of themselves and their actions, adding this is the last thing Dr. Shahab deserves after months of spending virtually every waking hour working tirelessly to protect the health and well being of Saskatchewan people.
Moe provided his government email address in the statement and said that no one has the right to harass a dedicated public servant and if people disagree with the decisions made by the government, they can take it up with him or call their MLA.
Moe adds that Regina Police and the RCMP have been involved to ensure Dr. Shahab and his family are safe, he encouraged an investigation to any potential breaches of the law or public health orders, and for charges to be pressed accordingly. He says long-term security options are being evaluated for Dr. Shahab.
