The Government of Saskatchewan and post-secondary education partners across the province have launched a collaborative initiative to support student health and well-being.
“Healthy Campus Saskatchewan,” brings 19 post-secondary institutions together to provide students with the knowledge, tools and support resources needed to achieve their personal and academic goals.
This academic year, the Ministry of Advanced Education and the Ministry of Health are providing combined funding of $130,000 to help support the work.
The main areas of focus include mental health, suicide awareness and prevention, sexual violence prevention, substance use, pandemic responses, and inclusive environments.
Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors, and Rural and Remote Health Minister Everett Hindley says, “It is especially appropriate this year, in light of the additional mental wellness challenges faced by our students in adjusting to the pandemic while they continue their education.”
