The Saskatchewan Union of Nurses and the Service Employees’ International Union West have ratified new collective bargaining agreements with the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations.
Both are for a six-year period. Coupled with recent agreements achieved by public sector unions, the result is settlement of all collective bargaining agreements for the Saskatchewan Health Authority for the first time since forming a single provincial health authority.
The financial settlement in each agreement includes 0%, in the first two years, 1% in the third and 2% in each of the last three years.
The SEIU-West contract runs from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2023. The SUN agreement runs from April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2024.
SUN represents more than 10,000 Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners.
SEIU-West represents 11,500 healthcare workers in such areas as acute care, long-term care, and public and mental health services.
