The city of Saskatoon is confirming a COVID-19 outbreak by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) in a City workgroup located at 88 King Street, which is only accessible by employees.
An outbreak is declared by the SHA when two or more people test positive for COVID-19 and are all linked to a specific non-household setting or event within a specified time period. An outbreak declaration remains in effect until twenty-eight days without a new positive COVID case in the workplace.
Due to the need to protect the privacy of the individuals involved, the city says it will not answer specific questions about the positive COVID-19 cases involved in the outbreak. They have disclosed that the outbreak is within City of Saskatoon Water and Sewer Maintenance – Select Crews. At this time, the City does not expect that there will be an impact to operations as a result of the outbreak.
It is the city’s understanding that SHA officials have followed up and contacted individuals according to its contact tracing process and has provided information to them on the next health steps to take. The City will support the SHA in its contact tracing process as necessary.
Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting has occurred in the impacted areas and equipment since the positive cases were identified.
