COVID-19 has posed added challenges for students and for the school counsellors who support them. Doctor Janice Graham-Migel, is President of the School Councillors Chapter of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She says, “The scope of practice has always been extensive for school counsellors in Canada, but it is especially vital during these uncertain times amidst a global pandemic.”
Counsellors are tasked with providing students with the support, consistency, and predictability that are essential to help students navigate in times of stress and uncertainty.
This week is Canadian School Counselling Week. The goal is to increase the public’s awareness of the programs and services offered by the profession in Canada.
