RIDERS SIGN OFFENSIVE TACKLE ANTONIO GARCIA
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American offensive tackle Antonio Garcia.
GARCIA (6’7”-305lbs) joins the Roughriders after three years in the NFL. He was selected by the New England Patriots in the third round (85th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. The Texas native also spent time with the New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, and Miami Dolphins.
Garcia played his college football at Troy University (2012-2016) where he was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team his senior year after not allowing a sack on 900 offensive snaps. That 2016 season he was a leader on an offensive line which allowed the fewest sacks (9) in the NCAA, paving the path for running back Jordan Chunn to become only the ninth 1,000 yard rusher in Troy history. Garcia also started all 12 games at left tackle his junior year (2015), being named to the All-Sun Belt Team as an honourable mention.
