Despite the recommendation from the provincial government not to partake in international travel, Municipalities of Saskatchewan President Gordon Barnhart is in Hawaii, conducting business remotely .
Barnhart remains there just one week ahead of his bid to stay on as President of the organization.
Barnhart’s only opponent is the current Vice President of Towns, Roger Hayward who has been president twice in the past and has been the Mayor of Naicam for 21 years.
Reports say the City of Prince Albert was considering leaving the organization when they learned of Barnhart’s current travel.
Barnhart was quoted saying that travel was a safe option for him and his wife.
The election takes place Monday.
