The Saskatchewan Realtors Association says the real estate industry had a good start to 2021.
A report from the SRA indicates that across the province sales were up over 49 per cent from last January, going from 616 sales a year ago to 919 last month.
The number of homes listed on all of the Canadian MLS Systems on New Years Day was below 100,000 for the first time on record, going back three decades.
In Saskatoon, January sales from 2020 to 2021 were up almost 27 per cent and in Regina, by over 75 per cent.
The city with the highest rise was North Battleford at 180 per cent from ten in January of 2020 to 28 last month and the surrounding area is up almost 58 per cent.
The only city that saw fewer home sales was Swift Current at a 5.6 per cent decrease, but in the overall region, sales were up 7 per cent.
The SRA says if you look at the 5-year average for Swift Current, sales were up almost 5 per cent.
