CUPE education support workers will be celebrating the first day of school by picketing the Regina School Board public meeting at four o’clock this afternoon (tues). The information picket is to demand what the union calls, a “fair deal,” for education workers. Locals 3766 and 650 have been bargaining for over two years and both have strike mandates from their members. The main issues include a two-year wage freeze and low increases in years three to five. Local 650 president Glenn Douglas says, over the last two year, the school board has bargained for a total of three days.
