Today is Superbowl Sunday and the province says there has been increased cases of COVID-19 after holiday weekends and special events. They urge everyone to stay apart and stay safe as well as sending out the reminder that individuals and venues may be subject to fines for failure to abide by public health orders and guidelines. Support your teams but also your chosen venues by abiding by the guidelines. While you may take in the game on the big screen at a public facility or licensed establishment, you must abide by the public health orders and guidelines to keep these spaces safer for all customers and staff. Sharing food between non-household members is not recommended. Individuals and venues may be subject to fines for failure to abide by public health orders and guidelines.
Public health officials point out that shouting increases risk of transmission of COVID-19 and suggests those cheering on their favourite team clap their hands or stomp their feet to cheer. As well, a reminder that only members of your household are allowed to gather in an indoor space and individuals who live alone may join another household of less than five. Anyone hardy enough to brave the outdoors for the Superbowl can still only have a gathering of no more than 10 and physical distancing between households must be maintained. Do not share food and drink.
