A Staff Sergeant with Saskatoon City Police says the vast majority of drivers who went through school zones they patrolled on day one of classes kept to the speed limit.
Patrick Barbar points out one driver in their tour of over 20 school zones was clocked at 61 km an hour, over twice the speed limit and faces a fine of close to 400-dollars.
Other drivers were caught doing illegal U-turns.
Barbar stresses U-turns are unpredictable and unexpectedly restrict sight lines for school kids.
He also says sight lines can also be blocked by people who park in restricted areas around schools especially close to crosswalks.
