Saskatoon Police say two women are facing impaired driving charges after a traffic stop and an evade police incident early this morning [fri].
Just after two o’clock, patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by a suspected impaired driver. The driver pulled over in an alley near Avenue B North and 25th Street East. The 26-year-old woman was arrested without incident and charged with Dangerous Driving as well as two impaired driving-related charges. Police allege that open alcohol was seized from inside the vehicle.
Police say a passenger got into the driver seat and took off. The vehicle was seen being driven erratically before it became stuck in an empty lot near 22nd Street and Witney Avenue. Police conducted a high-risk vehicle stop and two women were arrested without further incident.
A 25-year-old woman is charged with Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Impaired Driving, Refusal to Comply and Obstruction.
A 29-year-old woman was released without charges.
