A YWCA Saskatoon event on February 20th not only raises funds for its crisis shelter, it also gives participants a slight glimpse of what it might be like to be homeless.
It’s the annual Coldest Night of the Year walk.
Spokesperson Carla Delgato says whether it’s -40 or -5, it’s still cold out there when you have nowhere to go and nothing to eat.
The YWCA’s crisis shelter helps women leave bad situations, whether it’s abuse, addictions, mental health or homelessness.
It’s an emergency shelter where women and children can stay for up to 30 days.
You can support the cause by participating in or donating to the Coldest Night of the Year Walk.
Across the country, this event has raised over $33.5-million.
