Over $92,000 was raised for the family of a health care worker in North Battleford who reportedly had COVID-19 and died of a heart attack.
The Go Fund Me page says Tom Thomas was 34 years old.
He was from India, and with no family support in Canada, Thomas leaves behind an 18 month old child and his wife, Merin George.
He was a nurse in his home country and moved to North Battleford in 2016.
Because his wife was on maternity leave, he was the only person working in the family.
The goal of the Go Fund Me page, which has since been closed to donations, was to raise funds for the funeral and for family support.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees says its members are mourning the death of one of their own, who has been on the front line, battling the pandemic since it began.
Thomas was an aide at Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford.
