The Saskatchewan Chamber of commerce wants the provincial and federal governments to create an investment climate that promotes business competitiveness.
The chamber has made 24 recommendations it feels is a blueprint for both levels of government.
They include a harmonized Provincial-Federal sales tax and the establishment of a panel of experts to review the current potash royalty rate regime.
Chamber C-E-O Steve McLellan says increased international competition and an ever changing political landscape are a challenge to the province’s business community which is very entrepreneurial and competitive.
McLellan is concerned about the disrupting factors out of their control that changes how business is done in the province and the markets they need to be in.
He believes the chamber’s report “Beyond 2020-A Blueprint for Saskatchewan Businesses Competitiveness addresses the key issues and provides a clear path for the future of Saskatchewan businesses.
Other recommendations include trade issues, infrastructure, innovation and workforce development.
