The death of an infant in Canora last November is now being called a homicide.
On November 21st, local RCMP received a call about a one year old boy requiring urgent medical attention at a home on the 200 block of Northern Avenue. Despite efforts to resuscitate the boy by family, the RCMP, and EMS, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The victim has been identified as 21-month-old Lorenzo Cote from the Cote First Nation.
The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit South continues to investigate the death.
Police have completed numerous interviews and inquiries and have collected video surveillance from multiple locations to establish a timeline of the events on the day of his death. Police have also executed numerous warrants and conducted forensic examinations of multiple locations with assistance of the Yorkton RCMP Forensic Identification Services and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.
RCMP are encouraging the public to come forward with any information regarding the homicide or any information that they believe could assist investigators.
