The Saskatchewan NDP wants the SaskParty government to call a special meeting of the Human Services Committee of the Legislature to examine the pandemic response and vaccine rollout.
NDP Leader Ryan Meili notes there are now at least seven identified cases of COVID-19 variants in the province, so he would like to see updated modelling presented to the Committee.
He would like to know why Saskatchewan’s COVID-19 testing consistently lags below the national average, how many of the almost 400 deaths in the province were residents in long-term care and why the government didn’t begin using the rapid-test kits when they arrived.
Meili says the role of the Human Resources Committee is oversight of health care in the province and it has only met once since the last budget was passed.
