Today is United Way’s Tampon Tuesday. The organization says their collection drive for menstrual products in Saskatoon and surrounding areas is trying to address continually growing need.
The United Way says there have been accessibility and distribution challenges due to forced closures of schools and the reduction of in-person social programing. There will not be an in person event, also due to pandemic restrictions, but there are other ways to provide support, one of which includes the entire month of March when you collect these necessities with friends, family or fellow-workers. Then give the United Way a call to arrange pick up or drop off. As well, you can make a financial donation on the United Way website or mail in a cheque.
Usually products are distributed to those attending YXE Connects which is a one stop shop for vulnerable individuals but this year the United Way will work one-on-one with community partners to distribute the products where the need is greatest.
