Turtleford and Onion Lake RCMP are urging business owners to be vigilant after receiving numerous reports from local businesses of counterfeit Canadian currency being circulated in the community.
You can tell a fake because different material is used and easily damaged or ripped; the bills differ in size, shape, and colour; bills are modified with tape or other adhesive materials; they contain holographic images and numbers that do not match the bill denomination; and they display black lines or bars.
If you come into contact with what you believe is counterfeit currency, you can report it to your local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
