Runners and walkers will gather Saturday in Saskatoon’s Rotary Park for the 16th annual Miles for Smiles fundraiser.
The event has raised over 80-thousand dollars for the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation since 2004 including the purchase of a 35-thousand dollar patient monitoring system.
Molly Rayner of the Student Medical Society of Saskatchewan says Miles for Smiles brings out serious runners and people simply out for a casual stroll along the South Saskatchewan River.
Runners can go out for 2.5, 5 or 10 kilometres while walkers will take the 2.5km route.
Miles for Smiles has attracted over 100 participants in recent years.
