An arrest has been made in the 2020 death of a woman from Meota.
On February 7, 2020, 38 year-old Cindy MacKay was transported to the hospital and died several days later. Following her death, healthcare professionals raised concerns to the RCMP, which prompted an investigation. As a result of a complex investigation, conducted by the RCMP Major Crime Unit North, the RCMP Historical Case Unit North, the Battlefords RCMP Detachment, the Battlefords RCMP General Investigation Section, and RCMP Forensic Identification Section, 38 year old Michael MacKay was arrested Thursday. RCMP report he was arrested without incident in Warman, and charged with 1st degree murder.
Michael Mackay was the husband of Cindy MacKay. His first court appearance is set for Friday in North Battleford Provincial Court.
