Those wanting to head to Montreal this summer from Regina will be able to do so thanks to a direct flight being added by Air Canada.
YQR International Airport President and CEO James Bogusz says this is the first time the route will be flown by the Toronto-based airline.
Bogusz says this could lead to a big rebound for the airport.
He says the airport was operating between 4 and 6 flights, on average, per day. He says they believe they could be seeing low double digits, which is less than pre-pandemic levels but much better than what they’ve been experiencing for the last six to eight months.
The direct flight to Montreal is considered a ‘triangle route’ as it will include a stop in Saskatoon on the way to Regina.
