Children who enjoy the play equipment at Meadowlark Park can no longer do so.

The park is near the south end of Clarence Avenue along Calder Crescent.  The City says just after 7 in the morning on Thursday, firefighters responded and found evidence of flames over two metres high and the use of an accelerant such as gas or diesel.  Fire investigators believe the fire was kept burning with accelerants because the plastic components that had fire retardant had completely melted.

The structure is no longer safe, so it is being removed by city workers.  The City says replacement options are being considered and the community will be updated.  This incident has also been reported to the Saskatoon Police Service arson unit.  Anyone with information is asked to call the police or the

fire department.
