The Saskatoon Police Service are estimating around 400 people turned up for the latest protest against government COVID-19 restrictions on Saturday.
A convoy of people left Sasktel Centre and marched through downtown Saskatoon, eventually meeting at Kiwanis Park, at the the Vimy Memorial. The self dubbed “freedom rally” had 15 speakers and police say there were no issues during the afternoon. The event wrapped up around 6 p.m. according to police who had patrol vehicles situated around the downtown area. It was the largest rally of its kind held in Saskatoon since a “Freedom Walk and Rally” was held in December.

Currently in Saskatchewan outdoor gatherings are limited to maximum 10 people and people in attendance must ensure that physical distancing of at least two metres between households is maintained. Saturday’s rally saw many people without masks and grouped closely together.
Various other anti-lockdown rallies were held across the country including large events in Kelowna and Calgary.
