The NDP Health Critic says more leadership from the Premier and the government is needed to keep people safe during this pandemic.
Vicki Mowat says variants of concern have taken over in the Regina area and an increase in hospitalizations and ICU admissions have been reported in the province’s capital.
She believes case numbers will continue to increase, adding more pressure on health care facilities and staff while the mixed messages continue, including allowing businesses to stay open while urging customers to stay home.
Mowat notes that as the variants of concern began, Premier Scott Moe chose to relax restrictions.
The NDP is calling for rapid testing in schools, long-term care facilities, high-risk communities and workplaces to begin now.
The Sask Party has put out a tender for private delivery of the tests, which doesn’t close until April 30th.
