Another inmate has been mistakenly released. Codie Tobie Cardinal, aged 49, has been reported unlawfully at large after he was mistakenly released from custody two weeks ago on March 9th. Cardinal was released from remand after appearing in the Estevan Court of Queen’s Bench by video conference.
The Ministry of Corrections and Policing says he was released due to an administrative error. He was supposed to stay in remand at the Regina Correctional Centre after the Estevan court appearance, in order to appear at the Court of Queen’s Bench in Regina on charges involving conspiracy to commit a crime.
Codie Cardinal is described as 5’7″, 185 pounds, brown eyes, bald with numerous tattoos: Jesus on a cross on middle torso; Jesus head on right upper back; Chinese symbol for earth, letter “B” on right upper arm; geisha and the word “chain” on right lower arm; full arm sleeve on left arm; and “Dailen” on right neck.
The RCMP has been notified and members of the public are advised to not approach Cardinal. Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police service, local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
Last Friday Blair Cody McKenzie was released from custody, mistakenly, at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre. Authorities are still attempting to find McKenzie as well.
