It’s my Parting Shot for some Monday Musings…..

Because of COVID-19 postponements, and the need to play all the games because they’re all likely going to have a bearing on how the final standings finish up, the N-H-L has extended the regular-season to end on May 11th…a week later than it was supposed to. While I’m not wishing any ill issues or complications due to the novel coronavirus, I’m all for extending the season! The hockey has been great…when it has been played!

Back on Friday, I must admit I gulped a little for the chances of the Saskatoon Blades extending their season-opening franchise-record streak of success against Regina when I saw that 19-year-old defenceman Rhett Rhinehart was out of the line-up, due to a W-H-L suspension. That left league veterans 21-year-old Wyatt McLeod and 19-year-old Aidan De La Gorgendiere…plus just-turned 17-year-old sophomore Charlie Wright, 16-year-old Ben Saunderson made his W-H-L debut, 15-year-old Tanner Molendyk and 16-year-old Pasha Bocharov. Let’s just say the kids passed the test with flying colours and I need not worry about the youth and relative inexperience of the Bridge City Bunch defence anymore!

And, how about Sergio Garcia winning a match in last week’s World Match Play Championship, by aceing the par three 16th hole…essentially a walk-off shot! I’m sure it’s happened before somewhere, but I’d never heard of it. Heck, I like hearing about holes-in-one…I’d really like to be able to tell you about one of my own, but I don’t think doing it at “Putt and Bounce” would be all that impressive!
