International Road Dynamics, based in Saskatoon, has been awarded a New York State contract. IRD will provide a five year Maintenance and Upgrade contract with the Department of Transportation valued at $13 million. Under the agreement, IRD will install, manage and maintain permanent traffic data collection sites located in Metro New York City and Long Island.

The data collected is used to assess transportation needs and highway infrastructure performance for highway planning.  Rish Malhotra, IRD’s President and CEO, says the company has more than 25,000 Traffic Data Collection systems deployed worldwide.

The types of Traffic Data Collection sites incorporated within this contract include Continuous Count, Automatic Vehicle Classification, Weigh-in-Motion, and Permanent Short Count. IRD is considered a component in planning smarter cities by providing reliable traffic data for urban planning and engineering professionals.
